San Clemente vs. Edison, Friday, 7 p.m., Orange Coast College

Although both teams’ strength was at quarterback, Edison’s Nick Crissman had the advantage over Brad Curtis. That was before the appendectomy that took Crissman, the UCLA-bound quarterback, out of the lineup for this week, next week and possibly the week after. Now, advantage San Clemente, which still must find a way to slow Edison’s ground game of Ceasare Nieto and Areseo Lakey. But that also means that Edison will be even more dialed in on stopping Curtis.

With Crissman in the lineup, the No. 12 Chargers were a definite favorite; now, it could be a heck of a game between them and San Clemente, which is No. 24 in The Times rankings.
