Arthur Burns ran 10 yards for a touchdown, completing a 91-yard, 10-play drive, to give Corona Centennial a 33-21 lead over Mater Dei with 3:58 left in the second quarter. Burns earlier had a 42-yard run.
Receiver Ricky Marvray, who has committed to UCLA, is looking every bit like a top recruit for Centennial. He has a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, has caught five passes for 72 yards and he made a crunching block to free Burns on his 42-yard run.
There won’t be any state scoring record in this one. The state record was set in 1994 when Bloomington defeated Artesia, 82-62.
