Japan’s Exports More Videotape Recorders

TOKYO — Japan exported 2.27 million videotape recorders in November, up 44.1% from a year earlier, the Electronics Industries Assn. of Japan reported.
But production was up in November, as exports continued to show steep year-on-year gains due mostly to a 110.1 increase in shipments to the United States. Americans are now buying 59.4% of Japan’s exports of videotape recorders.
The association predicted that growqth of the videotape recorder industry will slow to about 3% in 1985 from projected growth of nearly 30% this year.
