Parts of Texas got their first snow in half a century, and hazardous driving conditions existed from near Houston to Austin and San Antonio, southward to Corpus Christi and west to the Big Bend region. All of the freeways in San Antonio were closed. Freezing temperatures prevailed in Georgia and travel advisories were in effect for much of North Carolina. A winter storm watch also was in effect for southern Louisiana.
