ATHENS — Fighting between Communist and anti-communist guerrillas in Iran has left at least 16 dead--including a leader of the anti-communist group--during the last few days, Kurdish sources said here Tuesday.
The clashes between the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran and the Kurdish Communist Party reportedly occurred near Baneh, in northeastern Iran. Both rebel groups oppose the regime of the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
The sources also said Sadiq Farkhian, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Central Committee, was killed in an attack by Communist guerrillas a few days ago.
