NEWPORT, R.I. — This summer resort of the rich played host today to King Hussein of Jordan, who is visiting the United States to attend the college graduation of his son and confer with President Reagan.
The schedule for the king’s five-day stay in Rhode Island includes commencement ceremonies Monday at Brown University in Providence, where Prince Faisal, 21, will receive his bachelor’s degree. The king also will deliver a lecture at Brown on Saturday.
Hussein, his American-born wife, Queen Noor, and their 2-year-old daughter, Princess Iman, and their three vanloads of luggage are installed at a Newport hotel amid heavy security, which includes military-type helicopters hovering over the area during the night.
Hussein, an experienced pilot, was at the controls as his Boeing 727 jet landed at nearby Quonset Airport Thursday evening from London.
