Kirkland Joins Picketing Pilots

WASHINGTON — AFL-CIO President Lane Kirkland joined striking United Airline pilots on the picket line today and denounced the company’s position on back-to-work issues as “an outrage.”
Kirkland wore a sign around his neck and walked with about 40 striking pilots, flight attendants supporting the strike and members of other unions. He then boarded another airline for a flight to an AFL-CIO regional meeting in Indianapolis, where he also planned to walk the United picket line.
