PRIME PREVIN

Robert Marks writes that Andre Previn makes music “lacking in passion” (Calendar Letters, Nov. 3).
Previn is the best you’ve ever had. He makes great passion speak through the music, not his ego. Do you people wish for another of the internationally reknowned maniacs bouncing and gesturing a show-biz performance to let you know passion is being conjured through the whole hall and not just in some choo-choo-train conductor’s head?
Say thank you to Previn. He has liberated the long-latent brilliance and heart of L.A. in its Philharmonic.
