San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein attended secret talks at Bay Meadows race track in San Mateo recently over the possibility of building a stadium there for the San Francisco Giants, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday.
According to the paper, some unidentified persons who attended the meeting said that the mayor “met secretly at the track twice in recent weeks with San Mateo County supervisors, San Mateo city officials, track officials and directors of the California Jockey Club,” owners of the track.
San Mateo County Supervisor Bill Schumacher was quoted as saying that county officials have indicated they might consider a deal to make land available at the 47-acre county fairgrounds north of the race track if San Francisco agrees to build the stadium.
San Mateo is on the Peninsula just south of San Francisco.
