Iacocca, Hodel and Conrad

Conrad’s cartoon will cause a flurry of letters labeling it “obscene.” Apparently, our capacity to deal with obscenity is inversely proportional to its presentation.
An “obscene” gesture will generate a multitude of letters expressing indignation. Meanwhile, this country continues to support the likes of Ferdinand Marcos, our Social Security system is in jeopardy, we have a deficit so immense that most people cannot comprehend the numbers let alone the effect, and Ronald Reagan continues his juvenile saber-rattling at a Libyan low-life with a bad tailor and none of us find any of this obscene! I think our priorities are !*ed up!
