Mission Viejo Man, 29, Arrested as Suspect in Valentine’s Day Robbery

An anonymous call led police to a Mission Viejo man, who was arrested Friday on suspicion of committing a Valentine’s Day bank robbery in Laguna Hills.
The caller told sheriff’s deputies that he had recognized the suspect from a bank photograph printed in a local newspaper, Lt. Richard Olson said. Deputies and FBI agents arrested Jon Cornelius Van Breukelen at about 3 p.m. as he got into a car to leave his home.
Van Breukelen, 29, who lives with his parents, was identified by employees of Security Pacific Bank in Laguna Hills as the suspect in a Feb. 14 robbery there, said Capt. Doug Storm, head of the sheriff’s investigative division.
Van Breukelen was booked into the Orange County Jail and was going through a series of lineups late Friday in an attempt to see if employees of other banks could identify him from other robberies.
Van Breukelen’s bail will probably be set at $50,000, Storm said. Calley said he expects that an arraignment will be made Monday morning before U.S. Judge Ron Rose.
