Talks Resume in India on Church Unification

NEW DELHI — Talks have resumed in efforts to unite the Church of North India and the Methodist Church in India.
The Methodist body, formerly part of U.S. United Methodists, had dropped out of negotiations that led to the 1970 merger of Anglicans, British Methodists, Baptists, Brethren, Disciples and Reformed bodies into the North India church.
A union committee says it now expects to meet periodically on steps for including the Methodist body.
