Loara, Edison Take Lead at Wrestling Preliminaries

After two early rounds of action Friday in the preliminaries of the CIF Southern Section 4-A wrestling meet at Edgewood High School in West Covina, Loara leads the team scoring with 55 points.
Edison is in second with 42 points, followed by Canyon in fourth place with 37. El Dorado and Fountain Valley are tied for sixth place with 27 points, and Sunny Hills in 13th place with 22 points.
Dennis McCullouch of Canyon advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals at 122 pounds. Teammate Avery Diaz advanced to the consolation round at 101 pounds.
At 148 pounds, Canyon’s Mike Gayer also advanced to the quarterfinals.
Action continues at Edgewood today in championship and consolation rounds. The championship finals begin at 7 p.m.
