The Santa Barbara County Grand Jury, in a second letter to the Board of Supervisors, is urging the county to continue efforts to close the Casmalia hazardous waste disposal site and to clean it up. The board asked the grand jury to provide specifics on how it formed that recommendation, originally made last October. In the new letter, the grand jury has attached to its recommendation 32 pages of copies of letters, documents and memorandums from the files of the state Regional Water Quality Control Board and state Department of Health Services.
