MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Reports of glass-laced Gerber baby food spread Saturday to a 10th state when a West Virginia woman said she found half-inch slivers of glass in a jar of strained peas.
Connie Wallace of Hedgesville turned the jars over to the Food and Drug Administration. She said she bought the baby food at an Acme food store, which removed all products with the same lot number from its shelves Saturday.
Consumers in 10 states have reported finding glass in Gerber products in the last week. No cases have been reported in California.
The FDA said Friday that it had tested 6,000 jars of Gerber baby food and had found no glass particles in unopened jars.
