California’s 1985 farm receipts appeared to be flat.

Last year’s crop is expected to total 52.8 million tons, a 3% increase over 1984, but gross farm earnings are expected to rise by less than 1% over last year’s $14.2 billion, according to the state’s Department of Food and Agriculture. The 1986 outlook shows a “slight improvement,” the department added, citing among positive factors lower financial and energy costs and a weaker dollar, all of which should enhance export sales.
