Tandon has formed a joint venture with Hyundai Electronics Industries, a subsidiary of South Korea’s largest industrial conglomerate, to make and sell computer disk drives in Korea.
Chatsworth-based Tandon reported that the joint venture will include both hard and floppy disk drives, which are computer memory devices used for storing and retrieving information in personal computers.
Ranjit Sitlani, Tandon’s executive vice president, said the joint venture will allow Tandon to sell products to Korea’s rapidly growing personal computer industry and also may help the company become a significant supplier to the lucrative Japanese computer products market. Production is expected to start by June.
Hyundai Electronics is one of the 31 subsidiaries of Hyundai Group, which recorded $10 billion in sales last year.
