Prep Baseball : Western Beats Villa Park, 5-3, in Loara Tournament Consolation

Western High School scored twice in the sixth inning Wednesday and went on to beat Villa Park, 5-3, in the fifth-round consolation game of the Loara tournament at Western.
The Pioneers broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth with four singles and a walk. David Brown walked to force in the winning run and Paul Boucher singled in the final run.
Boucher led Western (3-2) with two hits and two RBIs. Dan Price and Mark Tranberg also added two hits for the Pioneers.
Rich Lodding (2-1) went six innings and Eric Kawamoto pitched the last inning to gain his second save.
In other prep baseball action:
La Habra 8, Whittier Christian 7--Joe Padilla and Alan Newman each hit a two-run homer to lead the Highlanders in the nonleague game at Whittier Christian in La Habra.
