The company is buying Tele-Communications Inc.’s share of TeleScripps Cable Co., which they founded as a joint venture three years ago, the companies announced. The $78-million deal will give Scripps Howard total ownership of TeleScripps Cable. Each company had owned 50%. TeleScripps Cable began as a partnership in early 1983 by purchasing cable systems in the Atlanta and Chattanooga, Tenn., areas and now operates systems in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, South Carolina and Florida, serving 265,000 basic subscribers.
