Matti Nykaenen of Finland won the World Cup ski-jump title with a first-place finish in a 70-meter jump at Planica, Yugoslavia, on the next-to-last day of the season.
Nykaenen jumped 301 feet 7 1/2 inches in the first round and in the second leaped 300 feet 1 inch for 227.7 points. Andreas Felder of Austria finished second with 224.6 points and jumps of 300-1 and 298 1/2 feet, and Franz Neulandtner of Austria was third with jumps of 288-6 and 272-2 1/2 feet and 202.2 points.
Nykaenen had 250 points in the overall standings, with Austrian Ernst Vettori second at 207.
