Terry Metcalf, former running back with the Washington Redskins and St. Louis Cardinals, was arrested by Arlington Country, Va., police on charges including cocaine possession.
A police spokesman said Metcalf, 34, was stopped for speeding by officers and became abusive after being asked for his driver’s license and registration.
Police found a knife in the door of the driver’s side of the car, along with a gram of cocaine.
Metcalf was charged with disorderly conduct, reckless driving for going 56 m.p.h. in a 30-m.p.h. zone, possession of a concealed weapon and possession of cocaine.
Bell said Metcalf was released on his own recognizance and will be arraigned in Arlington District Court this morning.
