Mark Breland avenged the only loss of his boxing career when he dropped Darryl Anthony with a right hand and stopped him on cuts at 2:14 of the third round of a scheduled 10-round fight at Totowa, N.J.
Anthony won a decision over Breland in the 1981 National Championships to put the only blemish on the Olympic champion’s 110-1 amateur record.
Breland, 22, improved his pro record to 11-0 in the nationally televised welterweight bout. Anthony, 27, of St. Louis, dropped to 22-3-2. Breland weighed 147, Anthony 143 3/4.
