Four race horses and one show horse, collectively valued at $100,000, were killed in a fire that swept through an animal hospital across from the Los Alamitos race track.
Flames billowed from the Equine Medical Center soon after the fire started at 3:15 a.m., Orange County Fire Dept. spokesman Craig Kinoshita said.
Arson experts were investigating the cause of the blaze.
