Lon Farrell, 56, associate athletic director for operations at the University of Arkansas, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said in Fayetteville, Ark.
Fayetteville police said the shooting with a .32-caliber handgun occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday at the Charter Vista Medical Center. Administrator Dan Johnson confirmed that Farrell “was under our care” but declined to comment further.
