Suspension of Doonesbury Strips

I have just read the last of the lifted Doonesbury “comic” strips, and if the seriousness of the action taken by The Times wasn’t so meaningful I would have laughed my sides sore. If publishing a list of names, many already very well known to the public, “grossly exaggerate the real and alleged transgressions” of those named, is so offensive, why not print a list of your own with the same names, the reason for their resignation and/or dismissal and the result of the investigation into the charges?

Why when Trudeau did his many satirical pieces on Billy, Amy, Jimmy Carter, etc., etc., etc., did you not find those strips offensive? Surely, they were more personal and directly pointed.
