30 Killed, 64 Injured in Transkei Bus Crash

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — A crowded bus overturned on a mountain road in the South African homeland of Transkei, killing 30 people and injuring 64, authorities said Tuesday.
The crash occurred Monday near the town of Mount Frere, and injured passengers were taken to a hospital there. Police said the brakes of the bus failed as it was driving up a steep incline, causing the vehicle to roll backwards and flip over.
