A 25-year-old San Carlos woman was shot and killed by her estranged husband, who then committed suicide, San Diego police said.
The bodies were found at 8:55 p.m. Friday by police who were called to check on the woman, Maryann Healy Wentz, a loan officer for California First Bank, according to the San Diego County coroner’s office.
The shooting occurred at 8655 Lake Ashmere Drive in the apartment of the estranged husband, Steven Wentz, 27, a Bank of America vault teller, the coroner’s office said.
Police were called when the dead woman’s boss became worried when she didn’t show up for work. The supervisor drove by the Ashmere Drive apartment and noticed that Maryann Wentz’s car was parked in a red zone and was facing the wrong direction.
Police officers had to pry open a window to enter the apartment.
“Everything points to a murder-suicide,” a police spokesman said.
