SAN FRANCISCO — A People’s Express flight from San Francisco to Newark was delayed Saturday when a passenger bolted from the plane and dashed through a terminal after leaving behind a bag, airport officials said.
The unidentified man was tackled and subdued by an airport security guard and was questioned, a police spokesman said. The bag also was seized, airport security police said.
Passengers on Flight 14, which had been scheduled for departure at 6 p.m., were ordered off the plane for a baggage check and a search of the aircraft, police said.
A passenger said the man, who had boarded the plane with other passengers, suddenly “got up and bolted” down an aisle and rushed off the plane.
Police said the craft was cleared for use about an hour after the incident.
