Azusa : Moratorium Vote Reversed

The City Council has reversed its vote to place a moratorium on construction of multiple-unit housing and instead ordered the city staff to study the utilization of conditional-use permits as a way to prevent high-density development from overtaking the city. City Administrator Lloyd Wood said that the city now approves projects on an individual basis and that a conditional-use-permit system would enable the council to impose overall guidelines on construction within the city.

Mayor Eugene Moses introduced the motion requesting the study at Monday’s council meeting. It passed 4 to 0, with one councilman absent.
