Alabama Family Court Judge James Sloan pleaded not guilty in Providence, R.I., to sexually assaulting the teen-age grandson of another judge at a judicial conference on child abuse in July. Sloan, 42, of Anniston, Ala., was released on $70,000 personal recognizance. Sloan, married and the father of two, has temporarily resigned. He was arrested at a Providence hotel after allegedly raping the 13-year-old grandson of a Mississippi judge at the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.
