Singer-songwriter David Crosby was reported Friday en route to Southern California to spend his three years’ parole after release from a Texas prison where he served time on narcotics and weapons charges.
Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles spokesman Mike Roach said California had authorized release to its parole authorities of the 45-year-old musician and that Crosby was leaving Houston on Friday “for an unspecified location in California.”
A California Department of Corrections spokesman confirmed that Crosby had been accepted, but said he could not disclose where the rock star would be housed.
When he was transferred to a Houston halfway house on Aug. 8 after spending nearly eight months of a five-year term behind bars, Crosby asked that he be allowed to spend his parole time in the Los Angeles area where he wanted to live with relatives and work.
He said he wanted to reunite with the other members of his former rock group, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. On Thursday night, he performed with Graham Nash at a Houston club. He told the audience he had written some of his best music while in prison.
