Richard P. Bermingham, president and chief operating officer of Collins Foods International Inc., on Wednesday was named chief executive of the Los Angeles-based restaurant company.
He assumes the CEO post from company’s chairman and founder, James A. Collins, who will continue as chairman.
Collins, who will turn 60 later this month, said in a prepared statement: “If I have learned anything in nearly 35 years in the food service business, it is that there comes a time to name a youthful chief executive.
“However,” he continued, “I in no way intend to slacken my pace but will now have more time to devote to the long-range strategy of our business.”
Collins Foods is a major franchisee of Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets and owns a majority interest in Naugles and Sizzler restaurant chains.
