Tunisian Premier Rashid Sfar was quoted as saying the Palestine Liberation Organization has ended its military presence in Tunisia. But its political leadership will continue to be based in Tunis, he said in an interview with the newspaper Al-Qabas in Kuwait. Palestinian guerrillas went to Tunisia after being forced from Lebanon by the 1982 Israeli invasion. Earlier this year, the PLO moved its military command and thousands of Palestinian fighters from Tunis. The command relocated in Baghdad, Iraq, and the fighters were scattered among other Arab countries.
