A two-story house was gutted by fire early Sunday morning, but its four residents escaped without injury, fire officials said.
Duane Woolf, his wife and two adult children were sleeping in the house, in the 300 block of South Devonshire Drive, at 4:10 a.m. Sunday when their house caught fire, city Fire Capt. Paul Bartley said.
Four engine companies battled the blaze, but the house’s interior and contents were destroyed, Bartley said. The fire caused $85,000 in damage. “They (the family) just managed to get out,” Bartley said. “They should have been injured or something for a fire that bad.”
Cause of the blaze is under investigation, Bartley said.
