A 16-year-old boy was arrested Friday by Wilshire Division detectives who said he loaned a gun to Oscar Marquez, the Salvadoran teen-ager who fatally shot himself in the head while sitting in a Los Angeles High School classroom Jan. 14.
Detective William Eisentraut said there was no indication that the 16-year-old boy knew Marquez planned to kill himself. The youth was arrested on suspicion of carrying a firearm on a school campus, a felony. He was released to his parents and is to appear in Juvenile Court.
Marquez, 18, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last Sunday.
