SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A suspect in the slaying of a state trooper whose patrol car was riddled with automatic rifle fire was captured Tuesday and jailed without bond.
Glennon Paul Sweet, 31, the object of a manhunt since the shooting of the officer, Russell Harper, on Sunday, did not resist arrest when he was found at a house in Springfield, a Missouri Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Sweet was arraigned later Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder. A preliminary hearing was set for Feb. 25.
