CCAA Basketball Tournament : Cal State Northridge Women Rally in 2nd Half to Beat Chapman, 63-60

Denise Sitton scored 25 points, including 17 in the second half, to lead the Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team to a 63-60 victory over Chapman in a semifinal game at the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. Tournament Friday afternoon at San Luis Obispo.
Northridge (16-10) outscored Chapman, 20-8, to take a 51-49 lead after Dana Dawson’s 20-foot shot had given the Panthers a 41-31 lead.
The Panthers (12-15) had a chance to tie the score with 39 seconds left and down by two points, 61-59, but Laura Thomas made only one of two free throws.
Northridge’s Kathleen Dixon scored with eight seconds left. Sitton, who scored 73 points in Northridge’s three victories over the Panthers this season, scored 17 of her team’s final 27 points.
Dana Dawson led Chapman with 16 points.
