Dow Soars 36 to a New Record

NEW YORK — Stock prices jumped to record heights in active trading today, as energy-related issues helped shake off the sluggishness of the previous session.
The Dow Jones average of 30 industrials closed up 36.36 at 2,284.80. The previous record Dow was 2,280.23, set on March 6.
New York Stock Exchange volume was about 177.31 million shares compared with 134.93 million shares Monday.
