AFI FILM FEST: THE FINAL WEEK

“Mabou Mines’ Dead End Kids: A Story of Nuclear Power” (USA, 1986, 5:30 p.m.). A look at the key moments in the history of nuclear power: from medieval alchemy, to Madame Curie, to the Faust legend and Hiroshima. With music by David Byrne and Philip Glass. Directed by JoAnne Akalaitis. Not available for preview.

“Seven Women--Seven Sins” (U.S.A., 1986, 7:30 p.m.). Seven female directors--Ulrike Ottinger, Helke Sander, Chantal Akerman, Bette Gordon, Maxi Cohen, Laurence Gavron and Valie Export--handle one sin each in cinematic fashion. Not available for preview.
