LONDON — While Britain watched Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s London residence today as she prepared to announce a general election in June, her husband emerged and drove off with his golf clubs.
National television cameras, waiting for government ministers to arrive at 10 Downing St. for a key Cabinet meeting, caught the prime minister’s 72-year-old retired husband, Denis, as he climbed into a car packed with luggage and golf clubs.
“It’s going to be a busy month,” he told reporters.
