A man who raped and murdered a woman seven years ago during a robbery that netted a stereo and a jar of pennies was put to death in the electric chair in Louisiana’s second execution in two days. Alvin Moore Jr. was the ninth inmate executed in the United States this year. Moore, 27, was condemned to die for killing Jo Ann Wilson, 23, of Bossier City, on July 10, 1980. Moore maintained that he never stabbed the woman and that she willingly had sex with him. The Supreme Court earlier had voted, 7 to 2, to deny a stay of execution.
