Michele Granger, a pitcher at Valencia High School, was named a starter for the United States softball team competing in the Pan-American Games, Aug. 4-19 in Indianapolis.
Granger, 17, set several Southern Section and national records last season including career no-hitters (27), career strikeouts (1,186) and no-hitters in a season (11).
She won the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Sportswoman of the Year Award in softball in April.
The team was selected after a four-day trial that ended Wednesday. The team will begin a Midwestern tour July 2, playing in Michigan, Iowa and Illinois.
