Manufactured Home Dealers Increase Sales

The top 100 manufactured home dealers in the nation upped their sales during 1986 to nearly $1.4 billion, $101 million more than in 1985.

The report in the May issue of Automation in Housing & Manufactured Home Dealer ranks the top 100 by 1986 gross sales volume, which totaled $1,349,082,000 on new and pre-owned manufactured homes. That was up 8.1% from 1985.

The dealerships, from single-location independents to multiple-outlet giants, moved 69,587 units or 7.2% more than in 1985. Of those, 80% were new units and 20% used.

Virtually all--94.7%--of the new and pre-owned units reported by the top 100 dealers were HUD-Code and mobile (pre-1976) homes, which represented a rise of 5.8% from 1985. Panelized and other homes (logs and domes) represented 4.1% of the 1986 total, while modulars represented 1.2%.
