Lynne Stedman, director of Rancho Santiago College’s employment program for the last seven years, has been named dean of counseling, school and college relations.
Stedman, who lives in Irvine, has been with the community college for 17 years. She holds a master’s degree in counseling from Indiana University and is working toward a doctorate in higher education administration from Claremont Graduate School.
In her new position, Stedman will work with local high schools whose graduates attend Rancho Santiago College. She will also work with college counselors and coordinate programs for foreign students.
Stedman noted that the state is strongly emphasizing counseling programs for community college students. “During the next five years, community college counseling programs will face difficult challenges in meeting changing student needs,” Stedman predicted.
