Los Angeles’ two top law enforcement officials said the best way to combat drug use is to reduce demand with education aimed at changing society’s attitude toward narcotics. Parents continue to send signals to their children that some drugs, like alcohol, are acceptable, but most children find it difficult to draw distinctions among the drugs, Los Angeles County Sheriff Sherman Block and Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl F. Gates said during a Town Hall luncheon.
