Azusa : Vote Set on Golf Measures
The City Council has set an election for Oct. 6 on two initiative propositions concerning the Azusa Greens Golf Course that were sponsored by the property owner, Johnny Johnson.
One measure would rezone the property for housing. The other would ask the city to buy the course by issuing $26 million in bonds. If both measures pass, the one with the highest number of “yes” votes will prevail.
City Clerk Adolph A. Solis said petitions to put the measures on the ballot were signed by about 3,500 people. The county registrar-recorder’s office checked more than two-thirds of the signatures and verified that the petitions had been signed by more than the required 1,877 registered voters, Solis said.
