Five private donors have contributed a total of $255,000 to the South Coast Repertory Theatre’s capital and endowment fund campaign.
Mr. and Mrs. John Wertin, longtime supporters of the Costa Mesa-based SCR, have given $60,000 to help underwrite the Educational Touring Productions.
Gifts of $50,000 each were made by the Partners of Price Waterhouse, the Santa Margarita Co. and Western Digital. Funds from these three firms, all first-time donors to SCR, will go toward programs connected with SCR’s new Artists Wing.
A $45,000 donation from First American Financial Corp. will be used for commissioning works for the Young Conservatory Players program.
The five new gifts meant that SCR had met the dollar-for-dollar matching requirements for receiving a $250,000 challenge grant offered last year by the James Irvine Foundation.
SCR officials said they have raised $4.5 million of the $6.5 million sought for the capital and endowment fund.
