Ameritech posted a 3.1% drop in income for the second quarter. The Chicago company blamed lower Bell company revenues and increases in expenses for the lower income. Unregulated businesses performed well during the quarter, the company said. Expenses were greater principally due to higher depreciation, modest wage increases and growth in the business.
