Lt. Col. Oliver North: Patriotic Hero or Misguided Zealot?

Why are the committee members so upset when they learn that North and other members of his group have lied to public officials about their activities? Those public officials have been doing it to us for years and still getting reelected. At least Ollie lied in the interest of national security whereas their motivation has been self-centered.
