A 20-year-old man died Friday from injuries suffered when he struck a curb in Irvine, was ejected from his motorcycle and slammed into a tree, police said.
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Irvine Police Sgt. Mike Ogden said the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, may have been traveling too fast when his westbound motorcycle struck a curb on Royce Road, near Yale Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Witnesses tried to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m. at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, Ogden said.
